Sewing Basics
5 session x 2 hours per session $150 plus materials
This class is for beginners who want to learn how to sew by machine.
In the first two classes we will make a simple project (string bag, pencil case) together. The remaining 3 classes participants can choose between suggested projects including apron, sweatpants, shorts or skirt.
Quilted Tote Bag
2 sessions x 2 hours - $80 (includes materials)
This class is for anyone who wants to try their hand at machine quilting. Working from the same pieces, students will learn how to put together a pieced quilt top, add batting and produced a finished quilted bag.
Pre-cut materials provided, color selections available
Quilted Bowl Cosy
2 hours - $35 (includes materials)
Protect hands and furniture from hot soup, chili, and oatmeal with bowl cozies that are as cute as they are functional! These make great gifts, and are a nice addition to any lunch bag.
This beginner class is a great way to try your had at machine sewing and quilting. A selection of fabrics will be available for participants to choose from.
The finished cosy holds a 6” diameter bowl.
Appliqué Pillow Cover
3 hours - $60 (includes materials but not the pillow)
Students learn how to make simple appliqué shapes using vibrant fabrics and HeatBond™. The finished product is an envelope style pillow cover that can be made in the size and shape of the pillow you provide.
This class is a great way to learn to control the machine while sewing curves.

3D Drawing in Tinkercad - Challenge Project
(Tinkercad is a free online drawing platform that is very intuitive and often used in schools)

3D drawing in Tinkercad - Challenge Project
2 hours - $35
Using the concepts from the intro to Tinkercad class, plus some new tricks, students will design and print a 3D object of their choice. There will be several suggested projects, or students can propose their own challenge.

Files created in InkScape are SVG. These files can be used on the laser, the Cricut cutter or the vinyl cutter.
Level 2 Tracing, Editing and Combining Shapes
2.5 hours, $45

Cricut

Participants will learn how to use the Cricut Maker and Cricut design space to create a decal or iron on.

Make and apply an Iron-on – Heat transfer vinyl provided, bring your own shirt (or other article of clothing)

Learn how to set up and use of the 4 machine tools at FabZone: Miter saw, band saw, drill press and sander.

Demonstration of each machine followed by student practice session.

Participants will use all 4 machines to create a small desk caddy.
(Note: the use of approved safety glasses is obligatory. These are available to borrow at FabZone)

Custom workshops for organized groups (i.e. homeschoolers, scouts/guides, special needs groups, seniors groups) or team-building events can also be arranged for groups of up to 10 participants. Projects can be adapted to the skills and abilities of the participants. Please email info@fabzone.org with a description of your group and the project you would like to create.
